QA Tester - Drilling – (Houston, Texas)

Apex Systems, nation’s 2nd largest IT Staffing firm, is looking to hire a QA Tester-Drilling on a 1 year contract basis in Houston.

Position Overview

  • Adhere to Testing Standards
  • Provide objective assessment of Product Quality
  • Provide Risk Assessment and Mitigation for assigned Products and Projects
  • Contribute as an active Software Tester on the Team to deliver product stories
    • Define Testing Objectives based on Acceptance Criteria
    • Develop Test Cases based on Test Objectives and Acceptance Criteria
    • Write comprehensive Test Cases to verify Product functionality
  • Identify requirements for and solutions to Test Data creation
  • Define, create and maintain Test environments
  • Validate Functionality according to Requirements/Stories
  • Verify Development changes have no undesired effect on other, associated areas of Functionality
  • Effectively leverage Test Automation to compliment Manual Testing efforts
  • Define, implement and execute Test Plans during Development and Delivery phases of the project
  • Adapt and communicate Test Plan to accommodate changes during project execution
  • Schedule, monitor, measure, track and report Test Results and progress against the Test Plan
  • Identify, communicate and document Bugs in a consistent fashion
  • Track Bugs through resolution and implementation
  • Verify Bugs are resolved according to Bug Definition
  • Can demonstrate a strong understanding of Software Testing Practices, Strategies and Techniques
  • Can demonstrate principles of effective Test Design and detailed Test Case definition
  • Can demonstrate Lean principles and sustainable Testing solutions
  • Can explain the different approaches to Testing and how/when these approaches are beneficial to the overall Testing Strategy
  • Can demonstrate a strong understanding of Software Development and Agile methodologies
  • Experience writing comprehensive Test Plans
  • Experience communicating Test Plans and Test Strategies to Project Team and Management
  • Experience communicating Test Results, Test progress and overall status to Project Team and Management
  • Experience identifying, communicating and mitigating Product and Project Risk
  • Has a working knowledge of many complex applications including multi-tier architectures
  • Experience with API level Testing
  • Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environment Can lead Design and Implementation of Software Test Integration capabilities across applications
  • Has strong understanding of most elements of a successful Software Development Program, including, but not limited, to Manual/Automated Testing, Software Functional Requirements/User Stories, Code Design and Defect Management.
  • Has experience in Software Testing, Data creation/manipulation and Test Automation
  • Can demonstrate effective usage of common Test Tools (e.g. Defect Management, Test Management, Requirements Management)
  • Can write clear, concise and sufficiently detailed Bug Reports
  • Can author, implement and communicate Test Plans and status to Team and Management
  • Can design and create Automated Test Scripts
  • Understands the principles of Data Driven Testing and Action Based Automation design
  • Can understand and communicate Quality Metrics that provide practical, realistic and pragmatic data relevant to the team/project
  • Is detail-oriented
  • Can demonstrate good troubleshooting/problem solving skills
