We are seeking people with proven experience conceptualizing, defining and delivering consumer-facing solutions [services as products] delivered via digital means [web, mobile, social, email, new technologies].

As part of the Experience Design team, the User Experience team represents the voice of the consumer in creating and optimizing digital consumer experiences across the suite of digital products with consideration for the broader omnichannel experience.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Director, User Experience will be responsible for defining and delivering consumer-facing digital experiences from creative brief and concept through all aspects of creative and UX/UI execution. Role will support the Behavioral Health digital products and cross-digital user experiences (responsive web and mobile apps).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop, evangelize and execute the creative/UX strategy for consumer-facing products and services
  2. Lead teams in all aspects of design delivery: strategic definition, concepting, prototyping, detailed UX/UI, photography, research participation, documenting and testing of experience balancing user research/needs with business objectives/challenges
  3. Defines and manages teams’ deliverables, timelines, estimates/budgets and contractor needs to ensure projects fulfill time/scope/budget parameters
  4. Contribute to the corporate UX design standards/framework and to governance structure across teams to ensure consumer experiences are seamless and consistent across the end-to-end health experience
  5. Procure and use data, including KPIs, market research, and testing methods, to identify ways to conceptualize and advance the user experience
  6. Develop strong relationships and work in conjunction with internal and external product, brand marketing, design, development and operational resources
  7. Define and manage a suite of external agency partners to enable scale across both tactical augmentation and more strategic UX/UI support needs
  8. Drive executive decision-making through facilitation and presentation of creative/UX strategies and concepts and trade-off analyses
  9. Research and educate self and design team on new consumer behavior trends, technologies and development tools as needed
  10. Support prototyping exercises with internal and external partners to advocate and evangelize the future consumer experience
  11. Leads and develops team of 0-2 direct reports

REPORTING/WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to the Sr Director, Creative/UX. Works closely with design team members, traditional product, digital product, experience strategists, marketing, operations, project coordinators, IT and outside partners.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 6+ years digital experience work experience (incl. responsive web and mobile apps)

Required Qualifications:

  • Exceptional design talents and a portfolio that evidences stylistic breadth that demonstrates sensitivity to diverse subject matter, design targets and media (web / mobile / brand)
  • 4-9 years relevant work experience in digital consumer product design field
  • College degree or equivalent work experience required in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, and / or equivalent degree or experience
  • Proficiency in design tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, Sketch, Invision, among others)
  • Requires strong and flexible skills in visual design, illustration, interactive design, iconography, typography, photography, motion design and familiarity with frontend technologies
  • Working knowledge of HTML, understanding how comps translate to code, and the ability to use prototyping tools to convey design intent
  • Ability to seamlessly alternate between dealing with highly technical teams and non-technical business teams
  • Experience developing prototypes and leading innovation exercises.
  • Ability to balance user-centered design skills, visual design sensibilities, data-driven influences and understanding of technical constraints in design thinking
  • Strong skills in the following areas: organizational savvy, ability to handle multiple programs, attention to detail, relationship-building, strong communication skills, high accountability
  • Portfolio demonstrating cross-channel expertise and skill in creating user-centric digital experiences online and mobile
  • Has strong presentation skills and the ability to interact with and win support from team members and at varying levels cross-company

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Superb information design abilities, fastidious and efficient production and optimization habits, and impeccable problem-solving skills
  • Strong digital experience capability and command of usability and design principles, and digital channel / product best practices
  • Solid understanding of designing for Accessibility standards WCAG/508
  • B2B2C product experience
  • Robust mix of UX, Visual Design and Creative Director experience
  • Knowledge of video, motion graphics and photography a plus
  • Experience is developing and institutionalizing strategy and standards in large complex organizations
  • Experience in the consumer facing copywriting / editing field
  • Self-motivation, excellent communication, an open mind, the ability to thrive in multidisciplinary teams, and the skills to balance great design with short deadlines
  • Human-centered design proficiency
  • Exhibits a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness and works well with ambiguity
  • Experience in using A / B and Multi-variate testing information and analytics to identify improvements and continually optimize based on data and defined success measures
  • Experience working with complex, enterprise-level user-facing and internal systems, including CMS, commerce, device integration, search and social
  • Deep passion for digital products and channels, constantly keeping abreast of latest trends, best practices and competitive activity
